SITE 2020 PARTNERS WITH
WAZE CONNECTED CITIZENS PROGRAM
Partnership increases job site safety by reducing traffic flow.
Halifax, October 29th: Site 2020 announces a partnership with Waze (http://www.waze.com) As of October 1st all Guardian Smart Flaggers deployed on job sites all across North America will now be sending data to Waze. The data sent from turning on the Guardian Smart Flaggers will alert Waze users of where job sites are and provide them with alternative routes to avoid them.
This information will make all job sites safer with less headaches and hassles:
- by knowing whats ahead
- reducing traffic flow on job sites
- giving alternative routes/shortcuts
- drivers can report accidents, construction, and more for other drivers in real time
- increase job-site efficiencies: less traffic+less disruptions = job getting done quicker
- decrease traffic related injuries on job sites
- make travelling these routes easier on commuters so they can get to where they are going with minimal disruption
“Our mission at Site 2020 is to create protected and safe work zones through connected technology. Sharing our data with Waze is one step closer to reducing injuries in work zones by a major reduction of cars travelling through our sites. Smart routing vehicles is crucial for preserving the backbone of safety in our industry, as we prepare for the future of connected roadways and road construction.” Mitch Hollohan, CEO Site 2020
About Site 2020
Site 2020 designed and built the Guardian Smartflagger system to address current technical limitations in the traffic control industry, solve onsite resourcing issues, ensure safe work zones, and be the smarter choice.
The Guardian Smart Flagger is a fully integrated, automated flagging device that an operator controls from the safe location of a job site. It takes people out of harm’s way and allows them to see and control traffic through the lens of two HD cameras on the operator’s smart tablet.
We have validated this technology with test users at construction companies, flagging contractors, police departments, fire departments, and with municipal and state government officials.
Waze is where people and technology meet to solve transportation challenges. It’s a platform that empowers communities to contribute road data, edit Waze maps, and carpool to improve the way we move about the world. Thanks to its passionate community, Waze is able to partner with municipalities and transit authorities to reduce traffic and congestion—leveraging current infrastructure while impacting city planning. Waze also works closely with tech and automotive brands to reimagine what transportation looks like today.
A world with better transportation doesn’t have to be in the distant future. By harnessing the full power of community to reverse negative trends in transportation now, Waze can create a world where traffic is history.
